According to Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, every individual who has been allotted a PAN card,  as of the 1^st day of July 2017, as well as the individual who is eligible to obtain an Aadhar number, shall link the Aadhar number in the prescribed form, and manner. In simple words, everyone must link their Aadhar with their PAN before the mentioned date.

As per the official notice, the last date that links your Aadhar with your PAN is 31^st March 2023. But the date is extended, and now the last date is announced which is 30^th June 2023.

These categories are exempted from Aadhaar-PAN linking

• (i) NRIs
• (ii) Not a citizen of India
• (iii) age > 80 years as on date
• (iv) state of residence is ASSAM, MEGHALAYA or JAMMU & KASHMIR

How to Link PAN card with Aadhar 2023

Follow the steps below to link Aadhaar with PAN card. Time till 30 June 2023 has been given to link PAN card with Aadhaar.

• Step 1: At first you need to visit the Income Tax e-filing portal incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in for the Link PAN Card with Aadhaar .
• Step 2: Register your name if you are not registered. Keep in mind that your Permanent Account Number (PAN) will be your user ID.
• Step 3: After that, log in to your account by entering the requested information such as the User ID, Date of birth, and password.
• Step 4: A pop-up window will appear on your display. It will ask you to link your PAN with your Aadhar. If it will never show this kind of thing, then go to your profile settings by clicking the Menu bar. After that, I will ask you to link your PAN with your Aadhar.
• Step 5: Thereafter, some important details such as Gender, Date of birth, will be mentioned according to your PAN details.
• Step 6: Then, you will be asked to verify the details with the one mentioned on your Aadhar card. (Note: if any information will be found mismatched, you will need to correct the details or need to be corrected in the document).
• Step 7: If you find that the entered details are matched, then enter your Aadhar number and click on the ‘link now’ option.
• Step 8: Then, click on the continue to Pay through e-pay Tax option to make payment.
• Step 9: Enter your Permanent Account Number, as well as a valid mobile number that is active to receive an OTP.
• Step 10: After entering your mobile number, you will receive an OTP.
• Step 11: Enter the OTP then you will be redirected to the e-pay Tax page.
• Step 12: Now click on proceed on the Income Tax Title.
• Step 13: Select AY (2023-2024) and the type of payment and continue.
• Step 14: The applicable amount will be pre-filled. Click on continue. Now you need to select the payment method to complete the application process.
• Step 15: A pop-up message will appear on your screen which will inform you that your Aadhar has been successfully linked to your PAN.
